This is not as bad of a story as people make it out to be. It has such a great moral.. like: Don't be Greedy. actually I think that's the only moral it has. But just the way the story was written is so creative. I probably would've never come up with a story that involves time traveling and three ghosts. I just love how everyone in the story was different, truly different.
I have now heard the book being read, seen the movie, and been in the musical. I was Belinda Crachet:) my first role ever in musical theater. I sang a pretty little song about family:) good times!
That was the first time ever that I had heard about A Christmas Carol, and I loved it! Tiny Tim broke my heart:( cuz he was so nice and he was going to die.. the good die young.. whhhyyy
However, my favorite guy from the play was the narrator. I don't remember his name tho...
i just remember he was amazingly cute :p
Anyways, this was the play that woke my interest in theater! Since then, Ive in theater and I can't live without it right now. I've been in approximately 4 more musicals and 4 straight plays:)

I'm so glad that your love for theater grew from performing in "A Christmas Carol" play! I love this story, and you're absolutely right: Dicken's was very creative for having come up with a story about three ghosts. (I know I couldn't have!)
ReplyDeleteAlso, believe it or not, I was never really touched by the whole "Tiny Tim death" in the story. Haha, I have no idea why..there must be something wrong with me!! ):
Thats so cool that "A Christmas Carol" was your first play. I still feel as though even though it is such a creative and awesome book it is used too much. I have been required to read it almost 6 times since I have been in school, and it is getting a little old.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Victoria, Tiny Tim's death never really affected me. Maybe I saw it as a way to put the poor child out of misery.
You are going to go so far with your acting. I love your passion for every play you do, and every connection you make to those plays. Reminds me of my soccer career!! :) Keep on going, and don't stop!!

Thats pretty epic Sheyla. Musicals are always the best, not to mention that you can sing really well! I agree with the fact that Tiny Tim dies, thats pretty depressing. You would think that since Scrooge sucks, Tiny Tim should live a ling happy life! If he would have then that would have changed the entire story! It would have been so much better:)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger someone gave my siblings and I the "Christmas Coral" book. Being the person I am, I am not all into reading as I should be. I flip through the pages and saw how many words and lines there were and closed the book. I never took the chance to read it but my sister did a summary for me. I thought it was interesting but never took the time to read the book. Since we covered it in class, I actually want to read the book.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about the moral of the story. It is so important to live one's life and not be greedy. I am always so disturbed when I hear about rich people who have all the material things in the world, but they are still unsatisfied with their lives. This is because they work so hard for material things they think will make them happy, and they lose touch with true happiness. "The best things in life are free."
